Commission for Copper Ridge Facility Completed!

Kinnickinnick Kastle
Original Acrylic
16x20
Sold
Four Paintings involving 4 flowers/plants are now completed; each painting will be put in a room named for the theme. This painting was especially difficult because of the confusion about what kinnickkinnick actually is.  It is listed as Bearberry and Kinnickinnick in lots of books but really they are two totally different plants.  For those more scientifc they are arctous rubra and arcotostaphylus uva ursi. The kinnickinnick stays green all year round (it does get a bit browny orange around the edges) and bearberry when the frost hits turns a brilliant red.  This is what I was hoping to do for this painting - hopes dashed.  I have posted another painting I did with bearberry from my 100 Paintings in a 100 days Collection so you can see both plants. I love the bright red against the volcanic rock.

Dandelion Painting, Number 2 in Copper Ridge Commission

Original 16x20 Acrylic on Canvas
Dandelion Den
Sold
My oldest son said that when he looked at this painting it reminded him of the Sound of Music "The hills are alive"  haha!
This was not my most exciting subject choice for a painting but I actually really enjoyed it and, just for the record, Dandelions are not as easy to paint as they look!
